Great are You Lord – Music Monday

As I cross through the valley of the shadows you never leave me to cross alone.

You are by my side with each step,

holding me steady,

helping me make my way through the shadow days.

You are a lamp burning bright,

my guiding light that I must always keep in sight.

You are my strength,

my comfort,

the breath in my lungs.

The only way I can ever make it through is when I walk with you.

You are my refuge,

Great are You Lord.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.   Psalm 23

A Song in My Heart

psalm 98:4-6I hear you calling softly,
a mix with melody.
Love notes of peace,
say, “my child come to me.”

Your voice,
afloat on sweet whispers of Lyrical art.
Beautiful solo,
a song of tranquility to my heart.

In Your arms I lay my burden,
tomorrow’s worry lost.
Rescue in harmonious tempo,
my life was found when you paid the cost.

Beautiful, forever love of my life,
My everything.
Sweet words of your love song,
in my heart will forever sing.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve shared a poem here.  The other day I was reading another blog that I enjoy which is filled with some of the most beautiful poems I’ve ever read and it made me realize I never share my own poems anymore. I’m not really sure when I quit sharing them but now I see that somewhere along the line of writing this blog I quit sharing my most favorite thing to write which is poetry.

I guess maybe I started sharing only what I thought people would rather read when the truth is I really have no idea what people really like reading or how many people actually read what I write anyway.

What I do know for sure is there is one person who reads everything I write and that person is God. When I first started this blog the whole reason I started it was for Him and I think its time to get back to sharing the me that He created me to be.  It’s not that I haven’t been me, with my other posts, its just that I’ve been holding back on sharing what I feel most passionate about writing the most, which is poetry.

I may not be a fancy poet or even have a clue about how poems are supposed to be written, but I love writing whatever kind of poem that it it is that I write, and I am pretty sure that is what you may be seeing a lot more of from me in the future.

If poetry isn’t for you then I guess you’re reading the wrong blog today. And that is perfectly okay 🙂

Oh, and while I am at it, I also love music and I love taking pictures…. sooooooooo…. below is a video I put together of pictures I have taken.  They are pictures of some of the beautiful gifts God always gives to me on a daily basis.  I put them along with one of my very favorite songs which I think goes well with the poem.

I hope you enjoy You Are so Good to Me by Third Day, with pictures by Me 🙂

Have a blessed day,

Sorrow’s Tears

Sorrow’s tears cascade down

a sorrowful rain

Each tear drop a stain

cut deeply by a river of pain

Sorrow’s tears full of circumstances unknown

Shed for the broken,

The hurting and alone.

Sorrow’s tears flow freely

but don’t come without cost

A price that was paid

by innocence lost

A young life seeming to spin out of control

Aching my heart and taking its toil

If only for today

Sorrow’s tears will be wiped away

Tears dried by my father in heaven above

Father God, I want to get lost in your love.

Today was not a very good day.  A child who is very dear to me is in the middle of a bunch of grown ups in her life who are behaving like children. Her heart is broken, her mother’s heart is broken and its not a very good situation.I went to bed just heartbroken for her and all who are involved.  As I lay in bed watching the time slip by and sleep not even on the radar tonight, I decided to read my email. While in my email I found that I had notification of a blog I follow by my blogging friend James over at Men of One Accord.  He had been challenged on a blog that he reads to write a poem about love which he did it is very lovely but James’ poetry is always lovely.  In James’ post he also challenged his readers to write a poem of their own.  The poem you just read was my poem.  He had 2 writing prompts that God placed on his heart the line I chose from them was “God, I want to get lost in your love.”

When I saw the writing prompt I realized that getting lost in God’s love was exactly what I needed to do tonight, I needed to be lost in God’s love to realize that God does have the situation in his hands and I needed to give it up to him. I also know that the child has Jesus in her life and he loves her and she has him with her as she goes through this mess. Though God has reassured me he has this little girl’s situation in his hands I still feel heartsick about the whole situation, because it just really hurts to see people that I love hurt.  Before I go tonight I would like to ask you all my readers if you will say a prayer for a little girl and her momma.  Also before I go tonight I would like to challenge you to write your own poem and link it back here in the comments.  I don’t have a line but was thinking anything to do with God’s love, trusting in the fact that you belong to him or that he has your life in his hands will do. Thank you dear readers for coming back here each day and reading,

God bless you and Good night,

Terri

In The Quiet Of The Night

jyyy

In the quiet of the night as the shadows rise,

a heart lies fragile, weary and tired.

In the quiet of the night as the world is asleep,

a heart feels lonely, longing for peace.

In the quiet of the night as silence caves in,

a heart yearns to be held, in need of a friend.

In the quiet of the night as time seems unclear,

a heart cries out, “Jesus are you here?”

In the quiet of the night He replies, “I am”

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:13

Where Morning Dawns and Evening Fades

My heart swells with joy when I see my husband is posting sunrise pictures on Facebook while he is supposed to be at work.  I hope he doesn’t mind that I borrowed his picture for my blog post today.

psalm 658One masterpiece fades softly into the background as another flows quietly and seamlessly forward erasing the darkness as bright colors begin spilling over the sky turning what was once a star covered canvas into a fiery sky of oranges and golds, beauty so captivating I have to stop and just watch in awe. Where morning dawns and evening fades I enter the place where joy is made.

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy. Psalm 65:8

As you go through your day today slow down and pay attention to all the beautiful gifts God surrounds you with.  I think you will be amazed.

Have a wonderful day,

T

I Still See

20140829_130352

The wind is raging, storm clouds looming over the waves and in my mind.

I see where I don’t see and it frightens me.

The waves crash the shore and inside my mind they crash my sanity.

Fear overwhelming, the roar of the ocean matching the roar in my mind

Threatening dark clouds in the distance much like the dark blur obscuring my vision of the beauty before me.

The beauty…you are so big you created this

I feel so small right now,

I know you are so much bigger than me and even more bigger than the small blur.

I feel the breeze starting to cool as the storm in the distance calms the storm that is raging inside calms too.

The blur still threatens to get in the way but you won’t let it.

Even if I can’t see I still see you perfectly.

You Take My Breath Away

job334j

Rays of golden light

shine down from the heavens

you don’t have to see them

to know that it’s me.

you feel it

you breathe it

pleasure

peace

come to my safe place

rustling

my spirit

blowing through you

encircling you

like a cocoon

hear peace

billowing in my breath

 Father I feel your spirit

It takes my breath away

“Today as I sat on the deck His voice was rustling in the trees.  It was cloudy day but all at once golden rays of sunshine lit up the woods.  He then spoke to me, telling me to trust in him.  He filled me up with peace almost taking my breath away at times yet at the same time I was also breathing him deep into my soul.  It was awesome.”

A Sister’s Cry

Sometimes things just don’t make sense. How can it be such a beautiful day and something so terrible be going on inside someone that they would try to take their own life? How can someone be hurting so bad that they no longer want to exist while at the same time others are on top of the world? How could I have missed it? Why did I not see the hurt or feel the pain? How could I have been so blind?

I asked the Jesus, “Why must there be so much pain? Why must there be death?”

He replied,

“I give healing and life, those who come to me will never die”

“I am the love that never leaves”

“I am the one who hears the cries of those who call”

“I am the one who will catch them when everything comes crashing down

“I am the strength when they can’t fight anymore”

“I am the hope when it feels like hope is lost”

“Right now things may seem out of control but never forget that I am in control.

Yes! He is in control!

Right now

Right this moment

I lay my broken heart at his feet, reach my hands out and shout “Hallelujah!”

I will praise him because he deserves to be praised.

Right now things seem so terribly out of control but I know God is in control!

He is the hope.

He is the strength needed to fight the good fight.

When everything came crashing down he caught it all.

He heard my call.

He never leaves.

He is protector, healer, and almighty comforter.

He is love.

I have seen his power and I will continue to put all my hope in him.

I know He will hear the cries of those who are hurting.

He will reach down and wrap them his loving arms.

He will hold them, protect them and heal them.

He will give them peace.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

This is what I pray for today will you join me?

Whiting out the Brown

1517670_10200360742820975_1737104509_n

Quietness fills my ears as I watch the snow floating softly down like feathers,

covering everything in a blanket of white.

Trees once brown and decaying,

now covered by a fluffy snow floating down,

whiting out the dull brown

Once bare tree branches bend beneath the weight

looking as if they are about to break.

Bowing beneath the lovely white

instead of broken a beautiful sight.

As I watch each little intricate detail make this picture before me today

I know it is time to pray

Dear Lord, thank you for the never ending beauty you always put before my eyes.  And today thank you for the snow, softly floating down, sprinkled from your hands, dusting everything in sight with your beauty. Amen

“Son” light shining bright

20131218_064715

I feel a sadness in the darkness as I awaken this morning.

Tears drops slip down my face as thoughts of yesterday plague my mind.

As I turn over planning to bury my face in my pillow to go back to sleep I glimpse the moon through my window, full and shining bright.

Before my eyes the moon begins descending down the sky taking along with it the darkness.

On the other side of my room from different window, the sun, hidden below the dark horizon begins making its ascent up the sky.

Orange fingers of sunlight begin clutching the edge of the darkness as if grasping on to pull itself up, tinting the sky to a perfect shade of pink and blue.

I feel peacefulness overcome me as I perch on the edge of this place where yesterday ends and today begins.

The sun light slowly washes away the darkness on one side of the sky while the moon slips down below the horizon on the other side, taking yesterday away as this new day begins.

No matter how dark things may seem Jesus is always here, He is the light.  Jesus is the “Son” light that always shines bright.

You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22:29
