Door Number 1 or Door Number 2?

This morning I overslept.

I hurriedly showered, styled my hair, put on makeup, grabbed myself a cup of coffee and a protein bar, and I headed for the door.

As I passed through my living room on my way out the door I happened to see my Bible laying on the coffee table, unopened.  20150720_110426-1

Suddenly the thought occurred to me that I had just spent time doing a bunch of stuff to get ready for my day, but everything I did was something that helps the outside of me to look better.  I had showered, fixed my hair and put on makeup all of which took about 45 minutes. How many minutes had I spend on making the inside of me better?

Zero…

I have all of these ‘self-help’ items in my home…

Which of them is the most important?

Door number 1?

Or Door number 2?20150718_100639-1

Was I really going to spend 45 minutes doing things that were probably not all that important and give zero minutes to what was most important?

If I could make time for my hair and makeup, surely I could make time for what is most important and what always makes the inside part of me better.

It’s what is inside of a person that really matters and besides ….when a person’s insides are good the outside will be too.

It was time to restart the start of my day.

I hope you are off to a great start this morning, and if your not it’s never too late to restart the start of your day.

Have a wonderful day,

T

Love it. I’ve been thinking the same thing recently. I make time in the morning to check and reply to comments, messages, and emails, and then complain that I don’t have enough time to read my Bible. Thanks for writing a wonderful post!!! 🙂

I know that feeling too….About a month ago I decided to quit checking my email and blog in the early morning and pretty much do not look at my blog until evening most days. I have to limit myself from those in the morning or I will get sucked for hours! Thanks for coming by and your comment!

I need to do that too. It’s a habit for me: wake up, stumble down the stairs, turn on the light, check Messages, blog comments, email, check weather, read some of my devotional and Bible. It takes me 1/2 hour from when I wake up to when i usually read my Bible. And that is not how it should be. I’m really trying to change that habit, but habits are persistent. Especially when your brain hasn’t quite woke up yet.

I was not a Christian when my children where little, I remember they would get up as soon as the sun came up, I wonder how I would have done with spending time with God back then I am sure with small children it is very hard! Thank you for your comment!

A great focus T and very True, it’s not what is on the outside that matters is how beautiful we are on the inside and when we are even if we have warts and no hair it doesn’t matter because we have deep inner beauty and this shines in our eyes like it does yours.

This morning Hailey and Jasmine who are spending the weekend with me again would like to share as well, I hope that is OK with you T, they liked your message too.

Jasmine – Good Morning Mrs Terri, I like your Bible it’s pretty and I think door number one is the best too, we always have time to do what is best and today I’m going to read my Children’s Bible that Grannie Annie gave me. Could you say hello to Darlyn for me please.

Hailey – Good start Mrs Terri to the Day to do door number1 and I like what you said too; it doesn’t matter what I look like outside, it matters what I look like on the inside. I like your Picture, you have beautiful eyes, I like the Bible too. Grannie Annie told me about Darlyn and I hope she will be happy, I wish I could give her a big hug too.

Christian Love from the three of us – Anne.

Hi there Anne, Jasmine and Hailey! Thank you for reading and for your sweet comments and compliments.
Jasmine and Hailey, I am so glad you both like reading the Bible, God has so much that he wants us to know, and reading the Bible is where we can learn about him and get to know him. When I meet Darlyn this September I will tell her hello and give her hugs from both of you and also from your Grannie Annie. I think Darlyn would love to get letters from both of you gilrls also or maybe you could draw her a picture? I think that would make her very happy.
Thank you all for coming by today and I hope you all have a great day 🙂

The girls were very excited T when they read your reply and wanted to say Thanks, I will send their pictures with my letter when I write to Darlyn, Thank you for your kindness in suggesting it. Christian Love and Blessings – Anne

Thank you Mrs Terri, I read in the Bible that God made the world in six days but some of my friends said He didn’t but Grannie Annie said He did and we went to Sunday School for the first time today and Mrs Tris told us He did too. I would like to draw a picture for Darlyn that shows God made us and the world, would that be OK, Love Hailey.

Thank you for writing to me Mrs Terri, I went to Sunday School today and we sung Jesus Loves me and other songs and we danced and sung them for Ron too. I pray for all the Children who don’t have food or clothes. I would like to draw a picture for Darlyn, does she like cats and dogs? Love Heaps – Jasmine.

Hi, I am sure that I am sure Daryln would like any picture that you girls draw for her. My granddaughter has drawn pictures and also written to my sponsor children and they really do like that. As far as if she likes dogs or cats I do not know because I have never spoken to her, but I am sure if you ask her in your letters she will tell you.
I am also excited to know that you all were able to go to Sunday school today and that you all are learning about God, it is always great to pass along what you learn about about him to Darlyn. It sounds like you all had a fun day. Thank you for praying for the children and ‘Heaps’ of love back ❤ 🙂
