Instead of Panicking About it, Talk to God About it!

2 Corinthians 129

Have you ever found yourself feeling completely overwhelmed by what God has asked you to do?

Do you feel not big enough, strong enough, or smart enough?

Sometimes the tasks God puts in front of us seem huge and very overwhelming.  They may seem way bigger than us and that’s because they ARE way bigger than us!

Our God is BIG and He does BIG things! And guess what? Sometimes He uses people like us to help Him do them!

Still feeling overwhelmed and unequipped?

I know that overwhelmed and unequipped feeling all to well. Over the past few years I have felt it way more times than I would like to have felt it, but something I have learned is you don’t have to feel that way.

Because if God asks you to do something he will equip you to do it.

So instead of panicking about it, talk to God about it!

Let us come boldly to the throne of our Gracious God. There we will receive His mercy and we will find Grace to help us when we need it most.  Hebrews 4:16

He will help us. He knows what we need and when we need it. All we have to do is ask!  Just ask Him to help you and then breathe His peace in. When you give all that nervousness and panic to your Father, you will feel His strength flow through you equipping you for the job He has asked you to do.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

If it is something God asked you to do then trust in Him that it will be done.

Do you have something bigger than you weighing you down today? Remember your God is Huge!

With man this is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible.  Matthew 19:26

    I believe in prayer, but sometimes I wonder about the answers. Lately, the house next to us was up for sale. I prayed and prayed for a good neighbor, hopefully Christian. Well the house sold and the new neighbor is problems right from the start. Even being nice to him does no good. Had to be honest with God. I didn’t appreciate the answer I got to my prayer for a good neighbor. Interested in your thoughts, Terri.

      Hi LeRoy, thank you for commenting. I am not sure if my answer will be the right one but I will do that best that I can to answer. Part of the reason I wrote this post this morning is because I think it may have been just as much for my own benefit as my readers. I have been in the position lately that I have had to step out of my comfort zone and do several things that God has asked me to do. Every time things seem to be coming together I run into another obstacle. I keep asking God if he wants me to do these things then why doesn’t he help to make them easier. I keep praying for open doors and yes sometimes they open but it seems like another will shut. I am realizing with each obstacle I hit, eventually in the end I see the reason I did not get my prayer, and it was because God had a different plan and always it is a way better plan than mine.
      I wonder if maybe God didn’t give you the good neighbor you prayed for because maybe God wanted you to be there to show this neighbor Jesus. It is by your example that the neighbor will see Jesus. He may not be nice back to you but your treating him the way Jesus would want you to treat him may someday get through to him. Sometimes difficult people just need someone to love them. Your example may be the only kindness he sees and may be just the thing he needs to nudge him in the right direction. I do think God puts people in our lives for a reason for what ever reason you got that neighbor. As far as the unanswered prayer, I know that God does not always give us what we want but I do know he will give us what we need and as far as my past unanswered prayers go, now I realized that what I prayed for wasn’t really what I needed in the first place.
      I read this in Luke 22-
      39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 When He came to the place, He said to them,” Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

      I hope that makes some sort of since, like I said in the beginning, I am not sure if my answer is the right one but you asked for my thoughts, and that is what I think. Maybe you could pray that God will open your eyes to see what He wants you to see in the new neighbor and ask him to give you the strength you need in dealing with him?     Thanks T, how you explained that God knows what is best for us is very True, it was a good explanation, He is not going to give us something that will not be for our good. There are other reasons that He doesn’t answer prayer and that is if people pray selfishly or they are choosing to sin which includes lack of Love for others shown by their actions and words, if for example they slander others behind their back or deliberately seek to hurt them, than they don’t Love them or God.

    1John 4 :20 -21 If a man say, I Love God, and hateth his brother/sister, he is a liar: for he that Loveth not his brother/sister whom he hath seen, how can he Love God whom he/she hath not seen? And this Commandment have we from Him, That he who Loveth God Love his brother/sister also.(KJV)

    John 9:30-32 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth. (KJV)

    Some people pray also with the wrong motives, such as greed or it’s all about what they want regardless of how it affects others but He does hear a prayer of true repentance which means turning away for sin and seeking to do good by the empowering of The Holy Spirit.

      Thank you Anne for your input on the unanswered prayer. I am sorry it took me so long to answer your comment, I have had some very busy days lately. I am getting ready for a mission trip and have been working on our tickets, had a birthday party for my granddaughter and then I also have my job. The past few days have been very busy days but also fun 🙂
