The day I met you I was broken and burdened
Running away, chains of yesterday’s past tangled tightly around me
Weights of shame and pain sinking me to the bottom of a pit of self-destruction
Ashamed of my past
Ashamed of who I’d become
So tired of running
So tired of the pain
And then I heard you whisper my name
When you whispered my name I was afraid to lift my eyes to you
Afraid of what you would see, if you looked on my face
so full of shame, I knew I didn’t deserve your grace
Burdens I had tried to bury deep years ago were festering like poison, decaying my heart
I was such a mess, but your arms were still open wide
Could this be a place of rest for my heart so broken?
Softly you spoke…
“Just come as you are there’s no need to hide”
“Lay your past at my feet it’s not yours to keep”
“If you open your heart and let me inside I’ll show you a love and a life like you’ve never known’
How could this be? Why would you love someone like me?
“I have always loved you,” were the next words I heard spoken
“Fix your eyes on me and don’t ever look back”
Deep pain hidden within the pockets of my memories of yesterday came flowing forth in torrents as hope fell like rain showering down on me.
Washing away stains of my past
Things I thought were forever branded were washed away
Burdens lifting as my newly clean hands lifted upwards to you
Grasping on to all you had to offer
Laying down my burden and shame
Sorrows of yesterday washed away
by your cleansing and forever healing rain

So very True T, God does not want us to look back with shame and fear, we are cleansed in Christ Jesus but sadly many take lightly what they did to Jesus and yes continue to hurt Him. Paul didn’t minimize his sin nor did King David, both shared and in doing this they warned others but with assurance they were forgiven and we must do the same, meaning not to take lightly the evil we have done but have True heart repentance and when we do, we won’t walk in shame and fear but have confidence that we are a Spiritual Child of The King of kings and Lord of lords.
God asks us to be perfected in Love as we see in the Scripture below putting our Carnal flesh to death (Romans 8 :12-15-Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 5:24 -26) so we don’t sin in the future, He wants us to be Born Again knowing fully His heart of Love for us and as you shared T even when we didn’t know Him He Loved us greatly.
1John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man/woman of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in Peace; and the God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

Hi
You said of the Lord: ‘Come as you are.’
This is soooooooo important. People get it wrong and think they need to ‘clean up first,’ possibly making just ‘well groomed’ sinners. No! Come, and the Lord will do the cleaning.
Kind of like fishing for men. You catch the fish, the Lord will clean them.
Example: A lady of the street wears provocative clothes and becomes a believer. A day later, a legalistic believer is chastising her for wearing clothing not becoming of a christian woman. If this woman was harsh, she would have a good excuse for running away from this ‘faith.’ But change takes time; the heart needs to be softened through God’s word, and in time, she will get the picture.
But grace is the word! She came to the Lord as she was………….accepted as she was……..yet, people dare find fault because she is not as they want.
‘Come as you are’. Good one T.

That is what I thought for years, that I had to ‘clean up’ first. I figured I wasn’t good enough and I never really understood until this time around and it has been a long growing process every since. Thank you for your comment and your encouraging words. God bless you.

Sis, this was right on and so very powerful! This truth you stated is where our “blessed assurance” truly comes from. He accepts us, as other comments state, where and as we are. If He wants us to change, He is the ONLY power able to do so!! Had to Reblog this Sister T! God bless you continually as you serve (minister) to us all!
