This Place

This place is dark and barren

When I visit here I thirst

For love

For affection

Though I seek you every day

Sometimes I still find myself

Stuck

In this place

Lonely

Tired

Worn

And weak

Can anyone see past this mask of smile I wear?

Do they know?

I am restless?

I am yearning for more?

You know…

Please come today

I lay my burden at your feet

Show me

Guide me

Take away the longing

The wanting

The empty

Quench my thirst

I praise you

As I wait

For you to take away this place

Hi T your poem reminds me of a Psalm of King David’s, I have condensed it but the whole Chapter is very good and like all God’s inspired words we can hold onto them for ourselves regardless of who it is in reference to, He tells us to do this except when it is in reference at the time of writing to someone else’s own anointing, we are not all going to be King this is the same with man’s traditions, customs or laws of the Old Covenant, such as animal sacrifice, forbidden food, the Sabbath, circumcision etc.

Psalm 51:10-17 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the Joy of thy Salvation; and uphold me with thy Free Spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my Salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy
righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

So many do not know God’s heart of Love for us and so have fleshy fear of Him instead of heartfelt Love and respect and so they don’t depend on Him or Trust Him as a young Child does their Parents, even if they do not realise this. They also do not understand what it means by a broken spirit and a contrite heart and think it means we must be down on ourselves instead of having Godly pride in our Unity with The Lord and so rejoicing that we have and of course Satan what’s us to feel defeated too.

To have a broken spirit and a contrite heart is referring to our willing submission to God and no longer having a rebellious spirit, being sorry for the sin we have committed and choosing to no longer sin as The Holy Spirit empowers us not to and because we have been set free no Temptation will be greater then we can bear …. How good is that!

Thanks Anne… sometimes life can be a little tough. No matter what kind of pain a person is going through in life its good to know that they can always find comfort in the Lord 🙂 I meant to attach Psalm 63 to the post but forgot to do it.

I Love the Psalms T, many are soul enriching, like your 63 and also 23 and others (see below) yes as you shared sometimes we suffer hardship, some because of Satan’s testing too, Jesus told us we would but God will protect our soul, we will never perish meaning to be eternally separated from Him.

I went through a time of testing and also through life happenings felt great pain and heartache but God reassured me that He was close and was strengthening me, I may have shared most of the Scriptures below with you before T but they are a constant reminder, we are never going through trials alone and we will in the end have the Victory even in times of testing.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, in as much as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy

1 Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

James 1:12-14 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that Love Him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man, But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

I have been working with this word wait for some time now, Maybe someday it shall all come together into a painting of words. Your poem has its own painting, of restless comfort, expectance confidence, and discomfort peace. I know there I go again mixing words that look as though they do not mix, but can you see the beauty of your painting now? Great Poem, God Bless!

Thank you so much for your kindness, It is so cool how words can paint a picture. Like you said those words seem as if they do not mix but yet somehow they do! God bless you too!
